Tarlac State University President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco took part in the turnover ceremony of the Center for Interrelated Research and Policy Studies (CIRPS) of the Development Council of State Universities and Colleges (DC-SUC) in Region III.

The event, held at the Amphitheater of Central Luzon State University in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija on December 11, 2023, marked a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts of SUCs in the region.

The ceremony, attended by SUC presidents and their technical staff, along with participants from the Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC) seminar, witnessed the formal transfer of the CIRPS from Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHSVU) to Central Luzon State University (CLSU).

Former DC-SUC III CIRPS Chair and DHVSU President Dr. Enrique G. Baking and Executive Director Dr. Eddiebal P. Layco entrusted the stewardship of the center to the outgoing CLSU President and newly appointed chair, Dr. Edgar A. Orden, and Executive Director Dr. Emil T. Ubaldo. The leaders emphasized the pivotal role of the center as a beacon for the development of SUCs in the region.

Accompanying Pres. Velasco were Presidential Assistant Dr. Brigido B. Corpuz and the newly appointed University Technical Staff of DC-SUC III CIRPS, Dr. Brendalyn A. Manzano.

Both Pres. Velasco and Dr. Manzano took their oath for a two-year term (January 2024- December 2025) with other SUC presidents and technical staff to formalize their commitment.

Meanwhile, Ms. Lora L. Yusi, CHEDRO III OIC – Regional Director, commended the SUC presidents and technical staff for their commitment to initiatives and projects at research conferences and seminars. She underscored the importance of focusing on research ethics, dedication to research productivity, and efficient research management.

Ms. Yusi challenged everyone to uphold the pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals, explore disciplinary areas, and expand international experiences.

Among those present during the ceremonial turnover were TSU Research Director Dr. Robert Marcos and his support staff, who participated in the seminar for young researchers organized by CLAARDEC. (jlmm-OPA)
