Quality Management System Unit

BRIEF BACKGROUND OF TSU QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FUNCTION

The university started aligning its operations to ISO 9001:2008 “Quality Management System” in one of its core mandates: the extension services, with the leadership of Mr. Redemptor G. Toledano in 2008. True enough, the office was certified to ISO 9001:2008 in December 08, 2009. This certification rekindled the ISO hunger of other delivery units of the university.

It was in the year 2015 thru the leadership of Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari were TSU decided to elevate its ISO efforts to the next level. The whole university started its efforts of aligning all processes not only to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System but to Integrated Management System which includes three international standards (ISO 9001:2015-QMS, ISO 14001:2015-EMS and 18001:2007- OHSMS).

Tarlac State University was certified and awarded with Integrated Management System (IMS) certificates on March 25, 2016. The IMS Unit was initially placed under the Planning and Development Office of the university from January 2016 to January 15, 2019. The IMS Unit was transferred to the Quality Assurance Office from January 16, 2019 to March 30, 2019.

Due to reorganization and creation of the Office of the Vice President for Planning & Quality Assurance, IMS Office was also created and approved by the Board of Regents on March 08, 2019 and effective April 01, 2019 it will be one of the umbrella offices under the Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance.

Due to the pressing need, another reorganization was done and by virtue of the BOR Resolution Number 36 s. 2021 during the 121st Regular Meeting of the TSU’s Board of Regents held on March 15, 2021 via zoom, the Integrated Management System (IMS) Office was converted to Quality Management System (QMS) Unit under the Office of the Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance headed by Dr. Niño B. Corpuz.
