As part of Tarlac State University's 34th Commencement Exercises, the midyear 2023 graduating class gathered at the TSU Gymnasium for the two-part Baccalaureate Services earlier today (September 23).

The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Robert M. Cabrera of San Sebastian Cathedral Parish in Tarlac City.

In his homily, Rev. Fr. Cabrera highlighted the importance of the ceremony for the candidates for graduation, encouraging them to thank the Lord for all the blessings they have received.

He also emphasized the graduates' mission of living a life of holiness and kindness instead of pursuing wealth.

"Kung ano man ang pinili mong buhay ngayon, magmula ngayon, ito 'yung buhayin mo…Dalhin, gamitin, [at] buhayin ninyo ang lahat ng natutunan ninyo," Rev. Fr. Cabrera added.

Moreover, TSU alumnus Engr. Aser Sunga Mallari, currently an engineer at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central Office, delivered an inspirational message, pointing out the need to balance one's heart and head, emotions, and logic.

"Be compassionate and empathetic towards others and always stay true to yourselves… Ang batas [sa trabaho] walang puso... Pairalin ninyo ang puso niyo at pairalin niyo rin ang isip niyo," Engr. Mallari said.

He concluded his speech by advising the candidates to "run as hard as you can, and sooner or later, you will take off and fly."

The 34th Commencement Exercises will be at the TSU Gymnasium on September 27, 2023. (jlmm-OPA)
