Themed RISE: Reaching Realms - Igniting Sports Excellence, Tarlac State University concluded its Intramurals 2024 with an awarding ceremony at the TSU Gymnasium yesterday (April 22).

Garnering 72 gold medals, the College of Education Golden Eagles soared high as the overall champion, reclaiming the title from the College of Engineering last 2023.

The Golden Eagles, who last held the overall championship in 2019, dominated nine colleges and the Laboratory School in this year’s week-long sports activity from April 15 to 22.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Ligaya Gina S. Salangsang, Sports Development and Management Head, expressed her gratitude to the TSU community and highlighted the university’s culture of constant support for every festivity.

“I have witnessed more than three decades [in my tenure] na hindi nagbago ang kultura ng TSU na kung saan lahat po ay sumusuporta. Ganito po ang kultura natin na every time na mayroon pong activities tulad ng Intramurals, hindi man natin kakilala halos pero ka-college natin, we always support them in a way na yung morale na binibigay natin ay hindi matatawaran,” Dr. Salangsang said.

Moreover, she reminded the students to carry forward the lessons they had learned and the memories they had shared during the Intramurals.

“Let us keep the best memories and continue [striving] for greatness, not just on the field, but [in] every aspect of our lives,” Dr. Salangsang added.

The closing ceremony of the Intramurals also featured the bench yell and mascot competitions per college. This year marks the first time both competitions were held on the closing program.

Trailing behind COED in the overall medal tally are the College of Criminal Justice Education and the College of Business and Accountancy. (jlmm-OPA)
