OPENING OF THE TSU LABORATORY SCHOOL – SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL OFFERING STEM STRAND

The Tarlac State University Board of Regents has approved in the Special Board Meeting on October 2, 2020, through BOR Resolution No. 81, s. 2020, the Reinstitution of the TSU Laboratory School.

Application for Admission to Grade 11 (Senior High School)

The Tarlac State University – Laboratory School was granted Government Permit (Region III) SHSP No. 049, s. 2021 by the Department of Education – Region III to operate Senior High School Program effective School Year 2021-2022 for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) strand.

The TSU Board of Regents through Board Resolution No. 83, s. 2021 in its August 26, 2021 virtual meeting has approved the proposed admission policy of the Laboratory High School, effective School Year 2021-2022.

For the school year 2021-2022, around 70 slots (2 sections) will be opened to applicants from schools within the city and within the province.

The following are the TSU Admission Policy for Grade 11 SY 2021-2022.

Qualified to apply:

  1. The applicant must have completed his/her grade 10.
  2. The applicant must have a General Weighted Average of 90 or higher.
  3. Have a very satisfactory rating (or any of its equivalent) in the Character Rating reflected in the 2020-2021 Report Card or as indicated in the Certificate of Good Character.
  4. Be in good health as reflected on the Health Examination Certificate.
  5. The TSU-LS does not accept transferee/applicants for Grade 12. Grade 11 is the only entry point into the TSU – Laboratory School Senior High School.
  6. 6.      Students from Indigenous Peoples, Indigent Family (4Ps), Marginalized Sectors (such as jeepney drivers, fisherfolks, farmers, single parent, self- employed) are given priority in the admission.

Start of Application:

  1. 1.   The university will start accepting application for Grade 11 SY  2021-2022

from September 1 to 10, 2021.

  1. The application for admission will be online. Before an applicant applies, please ensure that

2.1.           The applicant is applying for Grade 11 SY 2021-2022. The university does not accept transferees for Grade 12.

2.2.           S/he has completed Grade 10 at the time of application and is not currently enrolled in grade 11 in any other school.

  1. 3.   Classes start on September 13, 2021.

 

Application Requirements

Before filling up the online application form, the applicant must prepare the following:

  1. Fully accomplished TSU-LS application form (downloadable via /downloads/students under VP for Academic Affairs section)
  2. An image file (PNG, JPG/JPEG) of a recent Passport Size picture of the applicant taken within the last 6 months. The picture must be colored with a white background, with only the head and shoulders visible in the picture.
  3. 3.   A scanned copy (in PDF format) of the applicant’s report card.
    1. 4.   A scanned copy (in PDF format) of the applicant’s good moral character.
    2. 5.   A scanned copy (in PDF format) of the applicant’s health examination certificate given at least within the past three months.
    3. 6.   A scanned copy (in PDF format) of the applicant’s Certificate of Indigency/Indigenous Peoples.
    4. A PDF copy of the applicant’s autobiography, which must be typewritten, A4 page size, 1-2 pages only, using any readable font. The autobiography should touch on the following points: interests, ambitions, accomplishments, and the reasons why the applicant desires a senior high school education at the TSU-Laboratory School.

After which, submission of requirements will be through email via [email protected] with the corresponding subject: TSU-LS Application.

Application Procedures:

  1. The selection procedure will be conducted in three stages through a triangulated assessment and cross-referencing of submitted documents.

1.1.        The first stage is to screen students in terms of their GWA, and if the applicant belongs to an indigent family, indigenous peoples, or marginalized sector, a certification is necessary. Qualified students will then be notified via email for the next application procedures.

1.2.        The students, then, shall be interviewed, and

1.3.        Finally, the students must qualify on the Essay Writing Assessment.
