In recognition of “the sterling performance of its graduates in the Professional Regulation Commission,” the Tarlac City Government and the Tarlac City Tourism Council awarded the Tarlac State University with a plaque of recognition during the celebration of Kaisa Festival last January 19 at the city square.
TSU President Myrna Q. Mallari and Vice President for Research and Extension Services Armee N. Rosel received the award from Tarlac City Mayor Ma. Cristina C. Angeles.
The award recognizes TSU’s “outstanding achievement as an academic institution which brought distinction and recognition to the City Government of Tarlac in all its mandates and endeavors.”
It cites “the sterling performance of its graduates in the Professional Regulation Commission’s Licensure Examinations” as one of the reasons for the award.
TSU is also being honored for the “exemplary education of its graduates which brought gainful employment to the youth of Tarlac City” and for its “community outreach programs that gave trainings, skills and productive jobs to its beneficiaries.”
TSU has produced over the past few years a record number of graduates who performed with flying colors in their respective government licensure examinations.
In 2016, Richard Macapulay placed 1st nationwide in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (Secondary) and Mark Castillo placed 1st in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (Elementary). Two other Education graduates of TSU, Melody Paraon and Rose Ann Tubay landed 10th in the LET-Elementary.
That same year, Lian Carla Caliboso Luzong ranked 6th in the Criminologist Licensure Examination and the TSU College of Criminal Justice Education, with 88.46% passing rate in the Board Exam, became the nation’s number three Criminology school.
In 2017, CCJE became the country’s number one Criminology school with a Board Exam passing percentage of 98.21%. In addition, TSU graduate, Jalara Narciso, bagged 4th place in the LET-Secondary.
In the June 2018 licensure examination for Architects, Joan Fatima Reyes, who graduated from TSU in 2016, placed 2nd nationwide with a rating of 83.20%. This is at least the third time that TSU landed in the top five of the Architecture Licensure Examination. In 2013, Eric Yadao ranked third and, in 2015, Orlando P. Sangalang Jr. ranked second.
In August 2018, the PRC conducted in Singapore and in six Middle East countries the Special Professional Licensure Examination for Elementary and Secondary Teachers. Out of a total of 441 examinees, 73 passed, and among the passers were two TSU graduates—Fe Baltazar Nagum and Laarni Baldovino Labasan, who placed 8th and 10th, respectively, in the exam for secondary teachers.
In October 2018, two graduates of the TSU College of Business and Accountancy joined the top 10 examinees nationwide of the Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination. Aubrey Nicole David Jimenez placed 6th with a rating of 90% and Samuel Joshua Cortez Tongol ranked 7th with 89.83%. In this examination, TSU’s passing average (for first-time examinees) of 66.67% is 41.49% higher than the national passing average of 25.18%.
As of press time, TSU is once again the country’s number one Criminology school. According to the PRC, it is number one in the list of top performing schools in the December 2018 Criminologist Licensure Examination, besting 575 other Criminology schools in the country with a passing percentage of 98.25 percent.
