Tarlac State University welcomed Ms. Teresita Guevarra, Supervising Auditor from the Commission on Audit Region III, for its first COA entrance conference this calendar year 2023.

The entrance conference, attended by the audit team members from COA and university representatives led by TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco, was held at the Engineering AVR on Thursday morning (November 23).

According to Ms. Guevarra, entrance conferences are not usually conducted, especially for the past three years. They only see the management formally during exit conferences. However, for this year, they were required to hold one at the onset of the audit.

Atty. Meliza Joy Manalo, OIC Audit Team Leader, and Mr. Jay Mer Tabugan, Audit Team Member, led the discussion, where Atty. Manalo reiterated the university’s responsibilities during the audit.

“The process of the audit is not just the job of the auditor kasi hindi po kami makakapag-audit kung wala pong cooperation ang auditee,” Atty. Manalo said.

The audit team is set to carry on the fieldwork from September 2023 to February 2024. The initial feedback of the audit team to the university will be given in February 2024, with the exit conference to be held on March 31, 2024.

TSU will receive the audit report on or before June 15, 2024.

Atty. Juan Carlos Gonzales, audit team leader of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan, also attended the entrance conference. (jlmm-OPA)
